佐賀関では魚介類も取れますが、この土地特有のものとして『クロメ』があります。
たこ焼きと言えば、どこの道の駅でも買える印象があるかもしれませんが、このクロメをたこ焼きのソースに活かして作っているということで、佐賀関ならではのたこ焼きということになります。
最初少し抵抗がありましたが、実際に食べてみるとクロメの独特の粘りがソースに生かされて、深みのある美味しいたこ焼きでした！
道の駅『佐賀関』で一番の食べ物と言っていいかもしれません。
たこ焼きを買って、広大な海を見ながらのんびり過ごすのも良いですよ～！
すぐに海に出れる立地なのも魅力的！
道の駅からはすぐに海に出れるようになっています。
クロメたこ焼きを買って、海を眺めながらたこ焼きを食べるのが、この道の駅の一番良い楽しみ方なのではないかと思います。
別府湾を望むこの近辺の海は、水質が綺麗で透き通っていて、つい中に入って水遊びしたくなってしまいますね。
※道の駅内にシャワーなどの施設がないため、本当に海の中に入るのはオススメできません。

規模が小さすぎる感は否めません
立地的に仕方ないのですが、道の駅としての規模はとても小さいです。海を眺める場所、と割り切って訪問したほうが良いかもしれません。
また、食事スペースも売店の一部に強引に作った形になるため、買い物客が後ろをウロウロするのであまりご飯に集中できず、オススメできません。
せっかく海鮮料理を食べるのであれば、少し足を延ばして『佐賀関港』で食べるのがオススメですよ！
